With the introduction of wearable electronic products, there are sports bracelets, smart watches, helmets, smart wear and so on in the market. 1, lower capacitance to avoid disturbing high speed data transmission.

ESD protection devices must provide circuit protection that does not interfere with everyday functions. For example, in a radio frequency interface (such as a Bluetooth or wireless LAN) or a wired port like a USB2.0, the ESD protector can not cause signal distortion or loss of data signal intensity. In order to ensure signal integrity, the capacitance of the ESD protector must be minimized without weakening the protection level.

2, use the lower clamping voltage to protect the most sensitive circuit.

If ESD discharge occurs, the main task of the ESD protector is to transfer and dissipate the ESD transient voltage as far as possible. This characteristic is improved by reducing the state resistance or dynamic resistance by electrostatic pulse, and more impact current is carried by the ESD protector than the protected circuit. By doing so, it reduces the electrostatic discharge pressure on the IC and ensures its survival.

3, smaller size to accommodate the limited space available in wearable devices.

No matter how high performance the device can protect, it will be useless if it can not adapt to the specific application environment. Wearable devices become thinner and smaller, and PCB has the smallest available space to accommodate ESD protection. The protection scheme for isolated devices is the best way to solve the potential design challenges, because they provide design engineers with flexibility in special circuit board layout.

The circuit protection technology and the circuit board layout strategy can protect the wearable equipment and its users, and hope that the designers can improve the performance, safety and reliability of their wearable technical design.
